Morningside of Auburn
I volunteer monthly at a nursing home in Auburn, Alabama called Morningside, where I spend time interacting and conversing with the residents. While at Morningside, I often play Bingo and dominoes with the residents and sometimes help them with daily tasks. I assist the staff and caregivers with activities and special events, like raffles and pageants, for the residents. My favorite event is called Mr. and Mrs. Morningside which is an annual spring pageant hosted by my sorority. I enjoy getting to know the residents and creating a positive impact on their life at Morningside.
Active Minds Auburn
I am a member of the Active Minds Club at Auburn University. Active Minds is a student-run organization that seeks to inform, educate, and promote mental health awareness to the Auburn students and Auburn community through fundraising and outreach efforts. In March 2016, I participated in the Active Minds marketing committee for Mental Health Week. During Mental Health Week, Auburn Active Minds hosted Send Silence Packing, a traveling exhibition of donated backpacks representing college students lost to suicide each year. I also promote club activities to raise awareness for mental health.
